There's nothing more fun than hitting the open road with the windows down, the music up, and a good ol' paper map in your hand, guiding the way! But after the road trip, what do you do with the map? Why not permanently seal the memory with a beautiful glass platter with the map decoupaged as a sentimental keepsake!
Here's what you'll need:
Glass Platter
Map
Marker
Scissors
Disposable Plate
Brush
Decoupage Adhesive
Here's how to do it:
- Place clear glass platter over map and trace around the edges with marker.
- Cut out map along the inside of the traced lines.
- Pour generous amount of Decoupage Adhesive onto paper plate.
- Apply Decoupage Adhesive to back of glass platter to cover entirely.
- Place map face down into the wet glue and smooth gently with fingers to release any air bubbles.
- Tip: Use a straight pin to pop air bubbles that are too large to flatten.
- Cut corners if necessary and overlap paper to flatten.
- Apply a generous coat of Decoupage Adhesive over the back of the map.
- Use fingers to work Decoupage Adhesive into the paper, then smooth with a brush. Let platter dry completely.
- You can seal the paper by spraying or brushing sealer over the paper.
You're done! Now, as you hum your favorite road trip song, serve yourself a fun frosty drink on your fancy new platter and remember driving down the road with the wind in your hair and headin' down the highway!
